Biography

London-based Australian milliner Lisa Tan creates elegant, sculptural designs using traditional millinery techniques and materials. Her signature style contrasts more flamboyant millinery, fusing classic styling with a modern edge to produce distinctive silhouettes with a less-is-more aesthetic.

Lisa has an impressive background in not only millinery, but in the wider world of fashion, having worked for both Burberry and Heidi Klein before becoming a fully-fledged designer with her own label. A passion for horse racing has been prominent throughout Lisa’s life and therefore race wear millinery is Lisa’s specialty and her unique designs regularly feature in the best-dressed winner’s circle at European and Australian racecourses.

However, with many British women now embracing head-wear, Lisa’s designs aren’t just for socialite events. The sculptural designs are becoming a popular choice for style conscious women looking to stand out from the crowd.

Using her previous fashion training, Lisa has designed and styled racewear ensembles to win prestigious “Fashions on the Field” competitions, including the Epsom Derby Festival (winner, 2009 and 2012), Sandown Park’s Eclipse Stakes meeting (winner, 2011) and the Melbourne Cup (runner-up, 2007).

If these awards don’t already add enough to her prestige, Lisa Tan headwear often features in fashion press including; Elle Wedding, Look, Tatler & Vogue. All of Lisa’s millinery creations are handmade.
