Biography

“I am here to introduce the fun of wearing hats. My hats are totally wearable and never occasionwear.”

– MISA HARADA

Japanese milliner Misa Harada surfaced onto the British millinery scene in 1994 after graduating from the Royal College of Art, London. Misa Harada went on to work with British royal-appointed milliner, Frederick Fox for 4 years.  In 1998, Misa Harada established her own label with her critically acclaimed debut women’s collection. Her millinery has gained a strong reputation for edgy elegance and in 2005, she launched the eclectic and audacious men's range, further cementing the brand's success.

She has since been creating quirky, edgy and whimsical headwear for the young, hot and trend conscious. Her talent for daring and unique hats meant that Misa Harad was soon creating millinery for catwalk shows of legendary designers including Katharine Hamnett and Thierry Mugler. Her collaboration in 2008 with Yohji Yamamoto made her very popular with the discerning client looking for headwear that’s out of the ordinary, more than a little glamorous yet always wearable. The partnership was such a success that the pair has been collaborating ever since.

She has also worked with other designers renowned for their eponymous cool including Bora Aksu, Reem and internationally established fashion houses Hermes and Missoni. Her collections are seemingly limitless in their self-expression and display trademark trimmings of velvet, leather, feathers, crystal, buckles and prints to name but a few.
