‘I love the chameleon effect of hats.... They allow you to walk to a different beat - it's dressing up and that's always fun and exciting.’- OLIVIA ROAT
For glamorous decadent headwear, you need look no further than milliner Olivia Roat. Creating her designs in London’s fashionable Chelsea, Olivia Roat is the name hot on everyone’s lips as London’s newest and brightest hatter to the cool and stylish. Olivia's hats have been worn by the likes of Miquita Oliver, Olivia Inge and Emma Forbes to name a few. Her talent for balancing feminine elegance with bold, daring lines has also attracted the attention of SKY News who interviewed Olivia during coverage of the marriage of Catherine Middleton and Prince William – many of the guests were proudly wearing Olivia’s designs.
Olivia Roat studied art history and sculpture before training as a milliner, and she went on to work with iconic milliners Philip Treacy, Noel Stewart and Karen Henrikson. She has gone on to develop her own fanciful and dramatic style, with designs including luxurious vintage style headpieces and colourful opulently embellished hats, all focused on complimenting femininity.
‘I want women to feel they are wearing something different and new. That they stand out from the crowd whilst also giving them a feeling of elegance, femininity and confidence.’
– OLIVIA ROAT
Olivia Roat’s designs are delightful confections, drawing from both cotemporary and historical sources of inspiration, combining this with a natural love of nature and flamboyance. She lists John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood and Proenza Schouler as among her favourite fashion designers. Her passion for Italian Baroque cleverly merged with her knowledge of state-of-the-art 3D effects is evident in the unexpected sculptural twists she adds to her headwear.
Olivia Roat’s delicious millinery has already attracted the support of fashion designer Maria Grachvogel whom she has collaborated with over the past few years. One of Olivia Roat’s designs was featured in the Dubai television advertising campaign, worn by Myleene Klass and her headwear has featured in many publications including Vogue, Tatler and Marie Claire.
